Hotel

Between the Caribbean sea and the Foothills of the Sierra, you'll be part of a unique landscape that joins white sand beaches, bright sun and the fresh breeze coming from the snowplowed Sierra Nevada.
Rancho Luna gives you seven rooms in three typical Tayrona culture Malocas, built from local materials to minimize enviromental impact.
It features an exclusive natural beach with kiosks, hammocks and seating for your rest and pleasure.
The hotel is located in a natural reserve and your beach hikes will take you through varied natural landscapes with abundant native flora and fauna.

Restaurant and Snack-Bar

The open air restaurant is a wonderful shared space for family, friends and couples to enjoy traditional regional cuisine.
Our exquisite recipes are prepared on a wood stove by locals, preserving the taste of home cooking.
Many of our dinner dishes follow authentic Caribbean recipes with fresh fish, vegetables and tropical fruits.
Restaurant Hours:
Breakfast: 7:00 to 9:00 AM.
Lunch: 1:30 to 2:00 PM.
Dinner: 7:00 PM.
Lunch and Dinner US$ 10.00 per Person
Snack and bar service in the restaurant area.
The bar has sodas, coconut water, beer, Aguardiente, Rum, wine and Whiskey.

Hikes and Tourism.

Rancho Luna is located in the Quebrada Valencia natural reserve, between the Caribbean sea and the Sierra Nevada. Enjoy the virgin beaches and the diversity of flora and fauna the region offers.
Visit Santa Marta and Taganga (an hour and thirty minutes away) or Riohacha (two hours away)
Hikes around the Hotel:
Walking down the beach from the hotel, you reach the Guachaca river estuary(twenty minutes) and the Burichaca estuary (one hour). En route you can see howling monkeys and a variety of birds, butterflies and exotic flowers endemic to the region.
Tayrona National Park: Located fifteen minutes from Rancho Luna.
Ciudad Perdida: The visit lasts from four to six days. The entrance to the park is five minutes away from the hotel. We can keep your luggage at the hotel at no cost.
Quebrada Valencia: Located two kilometers away, it is a crystalline creek among the crags.
Flamingo Sanctuary in Camarones Park (one hour's drive away).
Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas (two nights and three days).




Butterfly Cabana

Closest to the beach, with a double and two single beds, private bathroom and a terrace with a sitting room and hammocks.

Four rooms on three floors organized as follows:
-One room on the first floor, with four single beds.
– Two rooms on the second floor, one with four single beds and the other with two singles and a double.
One room on the third floor with two single beds and one double.
The cabin has two outdoor bathrooms a few meters away.
The first and second floor rooms have a wonderful garden view, the first floor has a sitting room with hammocks, surrounded by the beautiful garden. The cabana has two outside bathrooms a few meters away.

How to get there

From the Airport:

If you arrive at the Airport you can take a direct taxi to Rancho Luna. (US $ 40,00).
We have a trusted driver available.

Taxi and Bus:


Take a taxi from the airport to Mamatoco (US$ 11,00 or US$ 15,00) and then take either "Contra Oriente" bus or the "Guayu" towards "Palomino / Rioacha" (Value US$ 4,00).
You then have two options:
1 -
Get off at "Puerto Nuevo" and take Mototaxi into the Hotel (US$ 3,00).
2 - Get off at the Rancho Luna Hotel sign (500 mts before the entry to "Valencia") and walk 1.5 Kms to the hotel.

THE HOTEL is 10 minutes away from Tayrona Park.
The exact location is between "Guachaca" River and "Valencia" Creek.
Ask for Hotel Rancho Luna before "Valencia" Creek.

Rancho Luna is located in the Valencia Creek Natural Reserve, between the Caribbean sea and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains. Enjoy virgin beaches and the flora and fauna the region offers.

We will gladly help you to organize excursions during your stay (luggage storage offered at no cost).
Visits to Santa Marta or Taganga (One hour thirty minutes) or Riohacha (3 hours)

Tayrona National Park


Located 15 minutes from Rancho Luna, it is an archaeological and nature sanctuary. A great location for ecotourism, with exotic beaches with different types of surf and even areas suitable for scuba diving.
The stone paths that lead from the beaches to the Chairama, known today as the Pueblito are also one of the main tourist attractions.

Lost City (Ciudad Perdida)


Holds the Tayrona Archaeological Park (Ciudad Perdida), birthplace of the Tayrona, the most monumental indigenous civilization in the country.
It was declared an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Heritage Site in 1979. Visits last from four to six days. The entrance is located five minutes from the hotel.

Flora and Fauna: The Flamingos


Located in Camarones Park, it is the ideal place to discover the colorful Way' culture and see the exotic flamingos.

Valencia Creek


A crystalline creek among rocks and crags that offers an unequaled spectacle.
This waterfall that starts in the Sierra nevada forms natural pools suitable for refreshing baths and spotting various fish.

Don Diego River


Slide down the Don Diego river all the way down to its estuary. During the trip you'll meet howling monkeys and a great variety of birds, butterflies and varied exotic flowers endemic to the region.
On clear days you can see the snowy peaks of the tallest seaside mountain, also called the heart of the world.

Buritaca River


Visit the Buritaca River Estuary and bathe in sweet waters right on the Caribbean sea.

Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas


A 2 night, three day visit. A natural landscape of dunes, mesas, rocky cliffs and the blue sea that flows to create beautiful bays like Taroa and Bahia Hondita. Its incredible beaches are surrounded by mangroves that guard the charm of a virgin solitary place where the essence of spirit is revealed. A native village by the sea surrounded by desert, yet quite equipped for tourism. El Faro is the northernmost point of South America. You can also climb Pilon de Azucar and see the best views on the cape.
